The beauty of surrendering to the Divinity

I am reading day and night in Sri Aurobindo “Synthesis of Yoga” – it’s the greatest reading and transforming adventure I embarked on so far in my life – it’s pure bliss and rapture, almost every single page of his works. Here is an example:

“Every moment and every movement of our being is to be resolved into a continuous and a devoted self-giving to the Eternal. All our actions, not less the smallest and most ordinary and trifling than the greatest and most uncommon and noble, must be performed as consecrated acts. Our individualised nature must live in the single consciousness of an inner and outer movement dedicated to Something that is beyond us and greater than our ego. No matter what the gift or to whom it is presented by us, there must be a consciousness in the act that we are presenting it to the one divine Being in all beings. Our commonest or most grossly material actions must assume this sublimated character; when we eat, we should be conscious that we are giving our food to that Presence in us; it must be a sacred offering in a temple and the sense of a mere physical need or self-gratification must pass away from us. In any great labour, in any high discipline, in any difficult or noble enterprise, whether undertaken for ourselves, for others or for the race, it will no longer be possible to stop short at the idea of the race, of ourselves or of others. The thing we are doing must be consciously offered as a sacrifice of works, not to these, but either through them or directly to the One Godhead; the Divine Inhabitant who was hidden by these figures must be no longer hidden but ever present to our soul, our mind, our sense. The workings and results of our acts must be put in the hands of that One in the feeling that that Presence is the Infinite and Most High by whom alone our labour and our aspiration are possible. For in his being all takes place; for him all labour and aspiration are taken from us by Nature and offered on his altar. Even in those things in which Nature is herself very plainly the worker and we only the witnesses of her working and its containers and supporters, there should be the same constant memory and insistent consciousness of a work and of its divine Master. Our very inspiration and respiration, our very heart-beats can and must be made conscious in us as the living rhythm of the universal sacrifice.” P. 111

Intimate with the Divine

“There must awake in us a constant indwelling and enveloping nearness, a vivid perception, a close feeling and communion, a concrete sense and contact of a true and infinite Presence always and everywhere. That Presence must remain with us as the living, pervading Reality in which we and all things exist and move and act, and we must feel it always and everywhere, concrete, visible, inhabiting all things; it must be patent to us as their true Self, tangible as their imperishable Essence, met by us closely as their inmost Spirit. To see, to feel, to sense, to contact in every way and not merely to conceive this Self and Spirit here in all existences and to feel with the same vividness all existences in this Self and Spirit, is the fundamental experience which must englobe all other knowledge.” – Sri Aurobindo, from “Synthesis of Yoga” p. 115

In gratitude to Michael Beckwith

I knew that’s the Secret: the marriage between conscious and subconscious mind, but I wasn’t yet really aware of how it works.
I didn’t know here yet the modus operandi – so to speak, which is the Principal of Oneness: One Mind. One Power. One Presence.
Everything I see is 100% ME holographically projected as this Universe. The Only One in entire Existence and Non-Existence. One Mind. One Power. One Presence.

You are not in this Universe

Just to assume that a higher Power of a cosmic destiny takes you over right now, is enough to ignite its perfect enfoldment – if you truly understand the nature of mind, how infinitely powerful the mind is as a universal Principal, the Principal of The Universal. It is not mind looking at a Universe out there, because the Universe you see right now is inside the Mind, inside your own awareness! You The True You, are not in this Universe, somehow lost and disoriented, asking: where do I come from, and thinking I have no clue… and where do I go and this too I think I have no clue… and what is the purpose of all of this – I don’t really know… it seems. Yes it seems. It seems only. The Truth is: You are not in this Universe. This Universe is in You, every single piece of it, including the tiniest molecules and the most distant galaxies, all of it. All of it: You Are. – Arr

Rediscovering Diogenes

One time, Alexander the Great went to meet Diogenes because he was impressed that the philosopher (Diogenes) was so highly admired despite having neither money nor power.

The accounts of Plutarch and Diogenes Laërtius recount that they exchanged only a few words: while Diogenes was relaxing in the sunlight in the morning, Alexander, thrilled to meet the famous philosopher, asked if there was any favour he might do for him. Diogenes replied, “Yes: Stand out of my sunlight. I have nothing to ask but that you would remove to the other side, that you may not, by intercepting the sunshine, take from me what you cannot give.” Alexander still declared, “If I were not Alexander, then I should wish to be Diogenes.”[24]

Now, listen to this story:

Alexander the Great: “Diogenes, you are a man of great repute yet you are a man without purpose and mission! All you do is sit about all day, untroubled, unperturbed, indulging in conversation and the pleasures of moment to moment life!”

Diogenes: “So, what is so much better about the life of Alexander the Great?”

Alexander: I am a conquerer of nations!

Diogenes: So, conquerer of nations, unlike my purposeless life what are you going to do next?

Alexander: I am going to conquer Greece!

Diogenes: Yes . . then what?

Alexander: Then I am going to conquer Asia Minor!

Diogenes: Alright . . then what?

Alexander: THEN I am going to conquer the WORLD!

Diogenes: Alright, then what after that?

Alexander: THEN I will relax and enjoy life!

Diogenes: Why not save yourself the trouble?   (and enjoy life right here, right now!)

What a gift!

In one of my last blog posts I was mentioning my Friend & Teacher in Philosophy, Willi (Wilfrid Jeansch). Meeting Willi 14 years ago was for me like meeting Sokrates: instant death of each and every notion, into one single attitude: “I know that I don’t know”.

Thank you Willi! – I can not imagine having a better friend & teacher in Philosophy. It was such a joy and delight today to read one of your latest writings: “If you do not wish to stay on Earth”. What touched me much – very much so – is the Beauty and the Strength of your Message…  especially the following passage – in my eyes – a masterpiece of Literature and Philosophy (for my spontaneous translation in english – look below).

Translation in English:

“Looking back at my long life what I see is the following “Landscape”, illuminated by the infinite Mind. Each desire, each longing will be fulfilled. Each passion satisfied. Isn’t that beautiful? But not on Earth. As long as I expect the Earth and her population to satisfy my desires, my life becomes a craving hell. From the Light of Earth rises the shout of desire and lust. Earth’s shout is her longing for goodness taking place. Her shout is directed to the world, the universe, the Whole. Shouting reveals the Earth: Goodness is expected here on this planet. And her expectation has been fulfilled, her passion satisfied. Who did it? You did it.

Coming from the Wholeness of the Universe: Yourself – you’ve listened and responded to the shout of the Earth. And you came. Your presence on this Earth is the fulfillment of her longing. Therefore I say with love: Your longing will never be fulfilled – if you expect the Earth to do that for you. Why? Because You Are the one, who quenches Earth’s longing! Her happiness is her Union with the Universe. And You Are That. You Are that Union.”
